Behind the Pillar

Description

In the corner lays an emaciated body, obviously at least part of the source of the tremendous odor in the tomb. Judging from the smell and new, bloated appearance, the corpse couldn't be more than a few days old. The cause of death seems to have been starvation. But what could have made a man choose certain excruciating death by starvation over the chance of survival in the open desert?
